Umbrella organization of all Youths in the north, the Arewa Youth Forum, (AYF) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to decisively deal with terrorists attacking Nigerians in the name of Fulani Herdsmen.
A statement from the forum made available to newsmen in Kaduna said “after a critical look at the ongoing situation in the country and our own investigations have come to the conclusion that the bandits must be stopped in their track and treated like the terrorists that they are.”
The statement signed by Gambo Ibrahim Gujungu, National President of AYF said, “AYF wants Nigerians to know that those killing and maiming innocent Nigerians are not Fulani herdsmen, but criminals and should be treated as such.
Life is very sancrosant and as the umbrella organization of all Youths in the north and very much also concerned about the plight and wellbeing of Nigerian youths, we are bothered about the prevailing situation because the Youths, women and children always bears the brunt of any crisis.”
Part of the statement said, “the real Fulani Herdsmen do not go about with AK 47 and other dangerous weapons that has become the hallmark of this marauders.
” We are calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to as a matter of urgency prevail on the security agencies to bring the situation under control.
‘This group of people are another deadly group trying to destabilise Nigeria and cause disaffection among its people. We want to call on the Federal government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately make sure that the criminals are crushed before it develops into another Boko Haram.
“We want the government to also conduct a thorough investigation because they might be some powerful people that are out to destabilise this government, with a view to unearthing any group or individuals that might be supporting or sponsoring these deadly attacks.
“We also want to commend President Buhari for his effort in bringing out the country from the present situation and striving to take us to another level. While we commend the President for his efforts, we also want him to know that the situation in the country is precarious and demand urgent measures that will assuage the plight of the citizenry.”
